Christopher,
Thanks so much for taking the time to moderate this forum on grant questions about the Vermont Community Foundation's Fall 2010 Grant Round.Just some basic questions to start off:
1) What are essential deadlines applicants should be aware of?
2) Who should be applying for Fall 2010 Grants?
3) Where can one find application information?
Thanks!
-
Hi,
sorry I am late, i had some log in quirks.
I have a question about the budget. If we are writing for a project, how do we send a budget for the project. The budget asked for attachment is an organizational budget?
Rebecca The Mentor Connector, Rutland -
Hi Rebecca,
I'll take yours first:
This application is not for projects, it's for general operating support for your organization.
You only submit the full organizational budget.
-
For Nick:
The deadline for the Fall 2010 Community Fund Grant Round is 5pm on Friday, September 3rd. It's an online application that must be completed and submitted by 5pm.
-
Most Vermont Nonprofit Organizations with budgets under $1.5 million are eligible to apply although there are a few exceptions.
More information can be found here:
-
Rebecca and others - if you have other questions or concerns about writing a grant proposal for general operating support, as opposed to project support, feel free to shout out!
-
Oh, I see, I thought it was optional to do either general support OR a project?'Thanks for the clarification!
-
Hi,
Thanks for doing this forum. Is it possible to apply for both an operating support grant and a project grant at the Sept 3 deadline?
For the special project, we would apply under either sustainable or successful communities - to create and an exhibit and programs to promote civic engagement. Which category?
I looked at the guidelines for the various dedicated funds, and there does not seem to be a good fit there, with the exception of the Walter Cerf fund. Do you have any more suggestions?
Thank you
Ann Lawless
American Precision Museum -
Hi Ann,
This grant round is only for general operating support, with a couple of specific exceptions that apply only if you are a school or municipality.
Because this grant round round is to support your full organization, I would suggest you apply under Sustainable Communities - Cultural Heritage.
-
Also for Ann -
I do think you should consider applying to the Walter Cerf Fund, although the deadline for 2010 has already passed. Keep an eye out next spring for the 2011 Walter Cerf Grant Round.
-
Thanks Chris - PS, I like this forum idea.
Best,
Ann -
You're most welcome, Ann.
This is the first time we've tried this, we'll be doing it two more times for this grant round and then again in the spring.
Encourage folks to sign in and ask their questions!

Hi everyone,
I am wondering if there is a way to have multiple logins for the same grant application. Or am I supposed to share my username/password with others who need to view/edit the application?
Thanks!
Karyn
-
Hi Karyn,
Good question - your login should be for your organization, not you as an individual. Share the login name and password with the people at your organization that need to work on your application. BUT make sure that everyone is in agreement on who gets to do the final proofreading and hit "submit!"
Cheers,
Christopher -
